March 2-8 marks an important week for the construction industry – Women in Construction Week. First held in 1998, the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) established this week to celebrate the role of women in the construction industry, and to inspire the next generation.
Hear from the hard working women on #TeamCoker as we kick off our celebration of Women in Construction Week.

What’s been your most rewarding project or achievement so far?
It’s been so rewarding to watch this company grow as much as it has in the past 10 years. We’ve all grown with it and it just keeps getting better!
What’s the most exciting or fulfilling part of your job?
The most fulfilling part of my job is that I get to work with the absolute best men and women in the industry and we treat each other like family!
What’s your secret talent or superpower that helps you succeed at this job?
I always remember that things can change in a hurry, and you have to just adapt and go with the flow. There is no need to get stressed out. We’re all here to help each other and we ALWAYS make it happen!

What’s been your most rewarding achievement so far?
Continuing my dad’s legacy by completing the Millwright apprenticeship and working my way up to obtaining a service vehicle.
What’s the most exciting or fulfilling part of your job?
Everyday is a new day with different challenges and experiences.
What advice would you give to young women considering a career in construction?
Do it. It’ll be challenging but rewarding when you look back and see how far you’ve come. Some days are going to be frustrating, some days not everything will make sense but at the end of the day, as long as you continue to show up day in and day out while having the best attitude you can, you’ll get there.

What’s the most exciting or fulfilling part of your job?
Coming to work every day and being a part of #TeamCoker. Watching our amazing group of men and women go above and beyond to complete projects for businesses with safety, integrity and skill.
What’s your secret talent or superpower that helps you succeed at this job?
I love to make people smile. If someone is having an “off” day, I hope that I can change that for them. Being nicknamed the office cheerleader is a high honor that I strive to uphold!
What’s one of your favorite memories with #teamcoker?
A few years ago, we participated with the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office stuffing backpacks for students. #TeamCoker donated 60 backpacks completely filled with paper, crayons, markers, scissors and plenty of other items to help get the kids kick off the new year!
