Problem
During a renovation at a DANONE industrial facility, Iceberg Mechanical was tasked with installing new rooftop units, exhaust systems, and piping to support expanded production lines. The project involved adding square footage and upgrading equipment in an active plant environment, creating a tight, highly coordinated jobsite.
To complete the installation, Iceberg Mechanical needed a crane partner capable of safely lifting and placing equipment across multiple days while working alongside several other subcontractors. Limited space, ongoing operations, and shifting schedules made coordination critical. The team required a partner who could provide the right equipment, experienced personnel, and consistent on-site support to keep the project moving without delays.
Strategy
Our team connected with Iceberg Mechanical early in the planning process to understand the scope, equipment requirements, and jobsite conditions. After reviewing lift requirements and site constraints, the team developed a plan that included multiple crane sizes to support the installation’s different phases.
Over the course of nine mobilization days, we deployed a 250-ton crane to handle the heaviest lifts, including a large chiller, while 110-ton cranes and 50-ton boom trucks handled rooftop units, exhaust fans, and piping installation. This approach allowed the team to adapt to changing job-site conditions while maintaining efficiency across each phase of work.
Coordination played a key role throughout the project. With multiple trades working in a confined space, we worked closely with Iceberg Mechanical and the general contractor to adjust schedules, manage access, and position equipment without disrupting other crews. Clear communication ensured each lift was completed safely and on time despite ongoing changes to the project schedule.
After securing the crane support portion of the project, the client also needed a solution for storing a large chiller and rooftop units due to limited space at the jobsite. With limited staging space, our team provided secure outdoor storage at a competitive rate and coordinated the transportation of the units to the site as needed. This added flexibility helped keep the project organized and on schedule.
Outcome
The project was completed successfully within the planned timeframe and budget, with all equipment safely installed and positioned as required. Iceberg Mechanical was highly satisfied with the performance of our operators, riggers, and on-site team, as well as the reliability of the equipment provided.
The success of this project led to continued collaboration, with Iceberg Mechanical returning to Coker for additional work in Northeast Florida. By delivering consistent performance on a high-profile industrial renovation, we reinforced our reputation as a dependable crane and rigging partner capable of supporting complex, multi-phase projects.
