Problem
Sandalwood High School needed to update two outdated bathrooms over the summer to improve appearance and address ongoing durability issues. Due to frequent incidents of vandalism, the school required high-quality work that could withstand tough conditions. With just a brief summer window to complete the remodel, the project demanded efficient planning and execution to finish in time for the start of the school year.
Strategy
Coker was chosen for our reliable reputation in school remodels and experience working under tight timelines. We began by fully demoing each bathroom removing all fixtures, plumbing, and concrete down to the foundation. Then, we installed all-new underground and in-wall plumbing, new block walls for added durability, and poured new concrete floors.
The work also included installing all-new fixtures – urinals, toilets, sinks, and mirrors – and completing detailed tilework for a fresh, durable finish. Given the limited timeline, we coordinated closely with the general contractor on permits and inspections, maintaining a day-by-day schedule to keep things moving. Late nights and weekends were common, but our team remained committed to delivering on time and within budget.
Outcome
Thanks to careful planning, our team completed the remodels ahead of schedule and under budget, just in time for the school year. The principal and general contractor were pleased with the work’s quality, and the school now plans to update additional bathrooms as funding allows.
By proactively adjusting for layout issues and adding extra protection to water lines, we exceeded the school’s expectations and provided a solution built to last.
